I'm a former engineer, current bookseller and writer, and life-long bookworm living on the shore of Lake Huron in Ontario. My family arrived in Canada after escaping from behind the Iron Curtain in Czechoslovakia, and we've been counting our blessings ever since. Shelves stacked to the ceiling with titles on science, nature, history, and travel are all around me, and if Suite101 readers get half as much pleasure from any of my writing as I get from my books, I'll be delighted.
